Everything you have to do in this life requires, first of all, courage. It takes courage to start a business, to start a project, to get involved in a new relationship, to look for another job, to buy a property, to move house, to give a lecture to a large audience, to face the intense necessary preparation to be approved in a public examination… Finally, it is necessary to have the courage to face the countless moments of tension that precede the great achievements and are typical of the greatest opportunities, those that keep the most valuable treasures, locked under steel doors.
But what is courage? There are many answers to this question. We will risk, here, offering some subsidies so that you, dear reader, can acquire, consolidate or develop and increase yours. We will begin by affirming – in echo of what the great philosophers of past ages wisely taught – that courage is not the absence of fear, but acting despite being taken by it. It is that virtue that takes us out of inertia even when we are faced with unspeakable difficulties and dangers. It is the impulse that leads us to face such difficulties and such dangers with perseverance and manhood, putting our hearts ahead because we are in defense or in search of what is truly correct, ethical, moral.
Courageous is the person who acts even when he feels that uncomfortable butterflies in his stomach, that burning sensation in his chest and that burning sensation in his heart, which beats hard, wanting to come out of his mouth. Brave is the man who ignores the shiver down his spine and gathers strength just at the times when his weaknesses are most exposed. Courageous is someone who is aware that the greatest prizes are won when you risk a lot for them – after all, everything that is really valuable is stamped with the word “ risk ”. The brave is the one who refuses to give up, even when everyone else has returned to the comfort of home.

If there is a difference between the brave, I would say it is faith ( click here and read my article on the power of faith ). Belief in something bigger that gives you strength to fight is, for me, one of the main qualities of those who manage to act with courage and overcome the adversities that naturally get in the way. I truly believe that where there is no faith, there is no courage. And, unfortunately, if there is no courage, fear takes over the situation and the person cowers and becomes paralyzed, terrified, inert.

Friend contestant, understand this: simply because you have made the decision to face the challenge of studying for the contest, you already have much more courage than you imagine! It is a pity that sometimes we only become aware of our own strengths when the only option we have is to act; it is to have courage and face the problems and each of the adverse situations. Difficulties arise precisely to demonstrate to us how brave we are; never to bring us down. It's that we often become more useful only after revealing our weaknesses. Nobody shows their strength just sailing in calm waters. Think about it!
There is a certain consensus that, of all the virtues, courage – a genre that unfolds into honor, character, knowledge, passion, optimism and attitude to face danger – is the most admired. Courage is, was and always will be the greatest virtue of true heroes, of people who made a difference in their profession, in their activities, in their time and world.
Whoever has courage does not succumb to the first setback, the first failure, the first disapproval in a competition. Instead, he goes into the fight, stays in it, and ends up winning. Victory is the only destiny of those who have the wisdom to understand that everything is learned and conquered when courage is not lacking.

The scientists' discovery makes us believe that courage can and should, yes, be worked on and developed. Regardless, whoever has the courage is also very lucky. Do you know why? Because he worked hard, exercised, practiced, studied, prepared, read a lot. Courageous people are blessed by God. To be lucky, it is essential to have courage, a lot of courage. You can't stay without taking risks, otherwise you won't do anything”.
